# Meridian Predict

Meridian Predict is Robinhood Chain's prediction-markets venue, and it is a rebrand-and-refocus story rather than a fresh launch. The project was formerly Ethereal, a more general derivatives and trading-infrastructure effort, and became Meridian in May 2026 as it narrowed toward prediction markets and RWA perpetuals. Its structural choice is the interesting part: instead of a passive order book, it runs RFQ auctions where market makers compete to take the other side of each prediction at the best odds, with collateral, settlement, and payouts handled onchain by smart contracts. That is a bet that competitive quoting produces better pricing and deeper liquidity for event markets than a thin order book would — plausible, and notably it settles in USDe rather than the chain's dominant USDG, which is a small but real dependency on a different dollar. Prediction markets are also a pointed choice on a Robinhood-adjacent chain: Robinhood has pushed prediction markets aggressively in its own app, so an onchain venue in the same category rides a theme the parent is actively promoting. The reasons for caution are straightforward and mostly about maturity. TVL was around $108k in early July 2026 — small — the RFQ model's advantage over order books is asserted rather than demonstrated at scale, and a days-old venue with a fresh name has no track record. Meridian is one to watch as a structurally thoughtful attempt at onchain event markets, not yet as a proven one.
