# Relay Protocol

*Fast cross-chain execution — and an early scam-token blocklist for the chain.*

Relay Protocol plays two roles on Robinhood Chain, and the second is the more revealing one. Nominally it is a fast cross-chain execution and bridging protocol — one of the partner routes Robinhood's own bridging docs name for getting into the chain, built for low-cost, near-instant transfers. But within days of the 1 July launch, Relay became the public face of the chain's scam problem, and to its credit, part of the defence. As honeypot and 'vanishing' scam tokens proliferated on the permissionless chain — tokens that confirm a buy and then remove themselves from the buyer's wallet in the same or next transaction — Relay publicly warned users and started actively blocking identified scam tokens in its interface while verifying legitimate ones. It was careful to note the losses were not wallet or private-key compromises but malicious token contracts, which is an important distinction: the chain's base layer was not breached, the applications on top of it were being weaponised. The position to take is that Relay is a useful lens on the honest reality of Robinhood Chain's first weeks: a serious, well-backed L2 whose permissionless design immediately attracted the same memecoin-scam ecosystem as every other open chain, with real victims (one CASHCAT-linked exploit reportedly cost a holder around $56,000). Relay's blocklist is a genuine mitigation and a mark of a responsible integrator, but it is best-effort pattern-matching against an adversarial, fast-moving problem — it reduces exposure for users of Relay's own interface, it does not sanitise the chain. Treat it as a reason to route through vetted interfaces, not as an all-clear.
