Canonical token
A canonical token is the specific contract address Robinhood publishes as the real one for a given asset — for example AAPL at 0xaF3D76f1834A1d425780943C99Ea8A608f8a93f9. Because the chain is permissionless, other contracts can reuse a familiar ticker at different addresses with no connection to the issuer. The address, checked against Robinhood's contract registry, is the only reliable identity; the ticker is not.
